Forensic Documentation & Controlled Handling
Boston-based, serving clients nationwide by appointment.
Preservation engagements depend on clear documentation as much as careful handling. This page describes the records typically produced to reflect authorized receipt, handling, transfer, storage, and verification steps.
These materials support counsel, insurers, and internal review teams by creating a clean record of receipt, handling, verification when used, and transfer. They are preservation records and delivery materials, not legal advice, content interpretation, or expert conclusions.
Typical documentation elements include:
- Chain-of-custody records
- Acquisition logs and handling notes
- Hash verification outputs when used
- Storage, device, and transfer records when used
- Delivery manifests and verification outputs
Written intake begins with an initial written intake record so the source, receiving party, and expected deliverables can be settled before documentation sequences are opened. See the intake guide and Sample Documents.

Use and limits
Records are prepared contemporaneously under the handling plan in place for the matter. They commonly support internal review, insurance claims handling, and legal preservation obligations. No legal analysis, content interpretation, or evidentiary conclusions are provided unless separately retained in writing.
